Summer 15

Welcome to the latest Pro Moviemaker, and we’ve got another buzzing and busy issue to share with you. Our team has been to the NAB Show in Las Vegas to bring back all the latest news from this headline event, one of the biggest gatherings on the filmmaking calendar, and so you’ll find all the up-to-the-minute information about new launches and industry developments in this issue, and it’s fair to say that this is a business that can’t stop growing.

I’ve been fired up to get more hands on myself on the filmmaking front, and I’ve recently spent a couple of days up in Newcastle with the team from Heliguy, flying the new Inspire 1 drone from DJI. You can read my report in this issue and, suffice to say, I came away convinced that this particular piece of kit could be a real game changer.

On the technique front this issue, there’s a tutorial on miking an interview situation and a look at accessories that will introduce movement into your footage. Plus James Vellacott explains how streaming has come of age.

Also in this issue we’re welcoming the highly respected Larry Jordan to our team, and this master trainer and software expert will be regularly taking us through workshops that are designed to hone our editing skills. We’re also looking at the new growth area of 4K camcorders in this issue and testing out a selection of top-spec rigs that could be just what you need for your location filming.

Another bumper issue in other words, packed from start to finish with great features, and I hope you enjoy the read!
