The FilmLight Colour Awards return with a global jury and six categories celebrating the world’s top colourists
The 2025 FilmLight Colour Awards have officially launched with a world-class judging panel and entries now open across six creative categories. The ceremony will take place at EnergaCAMERIMAGE in November.
Celebrating its fifth year, the FilmLight Colour Awards shine a spotlight on the artistry of colour grading. This year’s Guest of Honour is South Korean director Park Chan-wook – the visionary behind Oldboy, The Handmaiden and Decision to Leave – who will join the panel to help select the winners from global submissions.
“Colour isn’t just visual – it carries emotion, character, rhythm and tone,” said Park. “That’s why I never want to leave the colourist’s room.”
He’s joined by Company founder Stefan Sonnenfeld, renowned for grading franchises like Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Transformers, and Apple+ cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra (The Studio, The Bear, Euphoria).
Now open for submissions until 31 July, the 2025 Awards span six categories: Theatrical Feature, Television Series, Commercial, Music Video, Emerging Talent and Spotlight.
Other jurors include award-winning cinematographers and colourists such as Kim Ji-yong (Squid Game), Petra Korner (His Dark Materials), Frida Marzouk, Callan Green ACS NZCS, and Andrea Leigh (Elysium, Mandy). Past winners like Douglas Dutton and Nadia Khairat Gomez also return to offer insight.
The shortlist will be revealed in autumn and winners announced at the official ceremony during EnergaCAMERIMAGE. To enter or learn more, visit filmlightcolourawards.com.
