Posted on Apr 8, 2025 by Pro Moviemaker

The new Blackmagic Pyxis 12K is slated to offer a comprehensive solution to digital filmmakers with its versatile design and cloud integration

Introducing the Blackmagic Pyxis 12K, priced at $4,995. This camera is set to become available in July.

This camera combines the beloved technology from the URSA Cine 12K LF sensor with a customisable body and a range of lens mount options. As an advanced digital film camera, a standout feature of the Blackmagic Pyxis 12K is its 36x24mm full-frame RGBW sensor, designed for versatility and performance.

With a dynamic range of 16 stops, the new camera delivers exceptional image quality across all lighting conditions. It shoots in 12K, 8K, and 4K, allowing users to capture stunning cinematic images with minimal noise, even in low-light environments. The camera also supports up to 112 fps at 4K and 40 fps at 12K for high-speed shooting.

The Pyxis 12K offers a lightweight yet durable design. Its multiple thread mounts and side plates allow users to easily rig the camera for various setups, from drones to gimbals. At the same time, the compact design makes it a perfect fit for both high-end production rigs and smaller, more portable setups.

Capture, stream, and edit easily using the Pyxis 12K, featuring Blackmagic Raw recording and dual CFexpress card slots. By supporting real-time streaming via 10G Ethernet or mobile data, the camera allows shots to be seamlessly integrated into platforms like YouTube and Facebook. The Blackmagic Cloud integration also speeds up media upload and remote editing access.

The new Blackmagic Pyxis 12K has already made an appearance at NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas where the capabilities of this camera have been showcased at Booth #SL216.

Blackmagic Design has been delighting filmmakers in 2025 with other new releases including the sale of the URSA Cine 12K LF Body.
