Blackmagic Design releases URSA Cine 12K LF Body

Posted on Feb 7, 2025

For filmmakers who already have all the kit, the customisable URSA Cine 12K LF Body presents a cost-effective alternative

Blackmagic Design has launched a body-only version of its much-hyped URSA Cine 12K camera. By excluding accessories, filmmakers can rig the camera with their existing gear, making it a cheaper and more flexible solution.

The URSA Cine 12K LF Body is fully customisable. Interchangeable lens mounts and numerous power options allow users to tailor camera setup to their unique shooting and production needs.

Despite excluding accessories like shoulder mounts, handles, lenses and media modules, this camera retains all the key features of higher-end URSA Cine 12K camera kits. This includes a 12K full-frame sensor with 16 stops of dynamic range and Blackmagic Raw recording.

The URSA Cine 12K can be fitted with pre-existing gear to create a camera for multiple purposes

Blackmagic Design customers remain at the forefront of this release. Crews can work faster with this model’s lightweight carbon fibre design and multiple monitoring options, such as five-inch HDR touchscreens, which eliminate the need for external monitoring.

Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO, highlights the importance of using customer feedback to develop this camera. “When we launched URSA Cine 12K many people said they would like to purchase the body of the camera only because they already have accessories for feature film production,” he states. “In fact URSA Cine was designed to work with all popular film production accessories.”

The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K is now available worldwide. Find out more at blackmagicdesign.com
