Astera’s Solabulb zooms into focus

Posted on Nov 21, 2025 by Pro Moviemaker

Astera’s new Solabulb adds a zoomable fresnel lens and wireless control to its LED bulb range

Astera now boasts three different bulb-style LED practical lights after unveiling the Solabulb, which has an industry-first zoomable fresnel lens that shifts between a tight 15° spot and a wide 50° wash.

Delivering the output of a 50W PAR bulb while drawing just 15W, the Solabulb builds on the success of the Nyx and Lunabulb with even more features. Inside its industrial-style housing is Astera’s Titan RGBMA LED engine, known for rich saturated colours, lifelike skin tones and a 96 TLCI rating.

The beam’s output can be fine-tuned by rotating the barrel, while adding the included Solasnoot helps stop spill. Accessory barn doors can also be fitted to cut light output into distinct shapes. An IP44 rating means it’s good for damp outdoor shoots too.

It has built-in Lumenradio CRMX and Bluetooth, while the free Astera app provides wireless control and multi-unit monitoring from a smart device. Full compatibility with Astera’s Power Station ensures easy battery operation, or it can be plugged into any household lighting socket with an E26, E27 or B22 fitment. Cost will be around €150 per unit, but no UK or US prices have yet been set.
