High-resolution Fujinon XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR lens offers versatility and portability

Fujifilm has just unveiled the Fujinon XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR, the latest addition to the company’s extensive lineup of interchangeable XF lenses for the Fujifilm X Series of mirrorless digital cameras.

This new standard zoom lens combines high-resolution performance with a compact and lightweight design, making it an attractive option for a wide range of photographers.

Key Features and Specifications:

  • Versatile Focal Range: Covering focal lengths from wide-angle 16mm (equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format) to medium telephoto 50mm (equivalent to 76mm in 35mm format), the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR is suited for a variety of shooting scenarios, including landscape, architecture, and portrait photography.
  • Lightweight Design: Weighing approximately 240 grams, this lens is the lightest in the Fujifilm XF zoom range, ensuring ease of use and portability without compromising image quality.
  • High-Resolution Performance: The lens features a configuration of 9 groups and 11 elements, including three aspherical lenses and three ED lenses, which effectively suppress chromatic aberration and maintain high-resolution performance throughout the zoom range.
  • Close-Up Capability: With a maximum shooting magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to 0.45x in 35mm format) and a minimum focusing distance of 24cm throughout the zoom range, the lens is ideal for close-up photography of subjects such as food, crafts, and plants.

Advanced Autofocus and Stabilisation:

The XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR is equipped with a high-speed and high-precision autofocus system, thanks to an internal focus method that utilises a linear motor.

This design ensures fast and accurate autofocus, capturing decisive moments in approximately 0.015 seconds.

Additionally, the lens pairs well with FUJIFILM X Series cameras that feature in-body image stabilisation, maximising its performance.

Durable and Weather-Resistant:

Built to withstand challenging environments, the lens has a weather-resistant structure with sealing applied to 13 areas of the lens barrel. It is capable of operating in temperatures as low as -10°C, making it suitable for shooting in light rain, dusty conditions, and other harsh environments.

Availability and Pricing:

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR will be available in the UK from 17 June 2024 for £699. The lens will also be offered in kits with the following cameras:
