Nikon announce latest development

Posted on Sep 9, 2026 by Pro Moviemaker

Nikon have announced the development of the NIKKOR Z CINEMA T1.9 VV series of cinema lenses, designed for the cinema, high-end productions, and creators, aiming to provide them with high-quality solutions. This series will be comprised of nine lenses, including the NIKKOR Z CINEMA 50mm T1.9 VV.

The NIKKOR Z CINEMA T1.9 VV series will offer the rendering performance and the practicality demanded by the cinema industry based on a new design concept, whilst enriching the cinematic expression of the NIKKOR Z CINEMA line. The series marks a first for NIKKOR lenses, featuring an image circle not only large enough for Nikon’s full frame sensors, but also covering the VV format of V-RAPTOR [X]1. In addition, the lenses will offer a highly precise autofocus mechanism that supports creators’ workflows.

Nikon will contribute to the development of imaging culture that includes the field of cinema, with the hope of expanding possibilities for imaging expression. Filmmakers and content creators can expect great things from the new synergy between Nikon and RED.
