Introducing the OM SYSTEM PEN

Posted on Sep 9, 2026 by Pro Moviemaker

OM Digital Solutions Corporation have announced the launch of the OM SYSTEM PEN, the first PEN series camera to bear the OM SYSTEM brand, scheduled to go on sale beginning of October, 2026.

Since the release of the first-generation PEN film camera in 1959, the PEN series has been loved by photographers for its compact, lightweight design and versatility across a wide range of shooting styles, from serious photography to capturing moments of everyday life. Building on this philosophy, the PEN is an interchangeable-lens camera that conforms to the Micro Four Thirds System standard. It combines a conventional rangefinder-style design with an electronic viewfinder and, for the first time in the series, dust-and splashproof capabilities, alongside OM SYSTEM’s unique creative expression features.

The PEN unlocks a wide range of expressive possibilities unique to interchangeable-lens cameras, empowering everyone from seasoned photography enthusiasts to those just starting out to capture and enjoy images with creativity and confidence.

OM PEN

The PEN is the first camera to be introduced under the PEN name by OM SYSTEM. With a rangefinder-style design that has been loved for generations for its everyday usability, the PEN features a design that is both timeless and modern. Although the overall aesthetic focuses on straight lines, this camera also incorporates firm, curved surfaces that fit comfortably in the hand, balancing a premium feel with a secure grip.

It is also compact and supremely portable, making it easy to carry in everyday situations or on a journey, and is equipped with an electronic viewfinder for better visibility and usability when shooting. Users can enjoy the unique process of shooting with a camera, looking through the viewfinder while adjusting the aperture value and shutter speed to achieve the image they want.

This model is also the first camera in the PEN series to feature IPX1-rated¹ splashproof performance and a dustproof design. Sealing materials are incorporated at key points throughout the camera body, allowing photographers to shoot with confidence even when faced with sudden changes in the weather.

In addition to design aesthetics and portability, the PEN offers excellent shooting performance. The TruePic IX image processing engine, 20.37 million effective pixel Live MOS sensor, and high-resolution M.Zuiko Digital lenses deliver excellent image quality. The PEN also features 5-axis image stabilisation compatible with all mountable Micro Four Thirds System standard lenses, greatly enhancing hand-held shooting with up to 5.5 stops2 of stabilisation at the centre and up to 4.5 stops2 at the edges.
