Tamron brings 18-300mm zoom to Nikon and Canon

Posted on Aug 14, 2025 by Adam Duckworth

A 16.6x zoom range, close focusing, and image stabilisation make Tamron’s 18-300mm a versatile choice for APS-C Nikon and Canon shooters

Tamron’s popular 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD – the world’s first 16.6x zoom for mirrorless cameras when launched in 2021 – is now coming to Nikon Z and Canon RF APS-C mounts.

Previously available for Sony E and Fujifilm X systems, the new versions will be available from 28 August (Nikon Z) and 26 September (Canon RF), priced at £530.

Covering an 18–300mm focal range, this compact all-in-one zoom is designed for almost any subject, from landscapes and portraits to wildlife and travel. It offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m at the wide end with a 1:2 macro reproduction ratio, making it unusually capable for close-ups.

Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme Torque Drive) linear motor delivers fast, accurate autofocus, while the brand’s VC (Vibration Compensation) stabilisation helps keep images sharp in telephoto or low-light situations. Optical performance is maintained across the zoom range and the lens shares Tamron’s standard 67mm filter thread for easy system compatibility.

The Canon RF version adds AF/MF and VC switches, while firmware updates for both mounts can be applied using Tamron Lens Utility. A five-year warranty is included.
