Content creator guide to curated camera kit

Posted on Jul 25, 2025 by Pro Moviemaker

We highlight a curated selection of cool kit aimed at the growing band of influencers and YouTubers

With the continuing rise of social media and YouTube, video content creators are growing in huge numbers and manufacturers are bringing out lots of new kit all the time.

Let’s take a look at some of the latest hardware that’s aimed at the biggest growth area in filmmaking.

Tamron superzoom now available for Nikon Z and Canon RF

Tamron will soon roll out its 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD optic for Nikon Z and Canon RF APS-C mirrorless camera systems. Previously, the 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 superzoom lens was only available for Sony E and Fujifilm X mounts.

With its 16.6x zoom ratio, the Tamron has a focal range equivalent of 27-450mm on Nikon Z and 28.8-480mm on Canon RF-S. At the wide end, it has a minimum focusing distance of 15cm, enabling a max magnification ratio of 1:2. It features Tamron’s Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) linear motor for fast and accurate AF performance, and a Vibration Compensation (VC) system to stabilise handheld shooting. The Canon RF version will have physical controls for AF/MF switching and VC on/off functionality.

Atomos slims down budget Shinobi

Atomos has introduced the Shinobi Go, a lightweight five-inch HDR monitor designed for content creators. The new model offers core features at a lower price point of £258/$249, but doesn’t have advanced camera control features.

A 1500-nit display headlines the new monitor, providing high brightness for outdoor visibility. It includes standard monitoring functions like false colour, zebra patterns, histograms, waveforms and vectorscopes.

Unlike the Shinobi II, it doesn’t support camera control, touch-to-focus or EL Zone. This is a streamlined option, only for essential monitoring.
