Filmmaker of the Year 2024: It could be YOU!
The Pro Moviemaker magazine Filmmaker of the Year Awards are about recognising independent filmmaking companies and individuals who continue to push the boundaries of creativity with small budgets but masses of passion.
While there are many awards for big-budget TV and film, our mission when we launched these awards las year was to highlight the heroes of the filmmaking world who create stunning work in the form of documentaries, promotional films, music videos, marketing films, event coverage, sports, weddings, social media and YouTubers.
The hard-working image-makers who go to incredible lengths to create original and innovative content.
The filmmaking world responded and we had scores of entries from a massively diverse range of individuals and companies. From young filmmakers on the first steps of the ladder to experienced creatives pushing the boundaries.
We had entrants including music videos for famous bands; commercials from luxury cars to local shops; events from Sky Arts to local charities; documentaries commissioned by national newspapers and even a full-length feature film.
Building on that success, it’s time to open the Pro Moviemaker FIlmmaker of the Year Awards 2024. And if you have the talent, it could be you!

How to enter
We understand the lives of working filmmakers is busy and time is precious.
So, there is no huge, involved process of entering these awards or making bespoke showreels or even whole new films – unless you want to!
The work can be content you’ve created for a paid-for client, non paid-for like a charity or sports team, personal work or anything else you have worked on.
Simply email [email protected] with the subject line Filmmaker of the Year and include a link where we can watch the video online, such as on YouTube or Vimeo, plus the password if it’s protected.
Alternatively, you can send a link to a file so we can download it from a file sharing service like WeTransfer. And let us know if we have permission to link to the film online on our website or social media, and any credits needed.
In your email, please tell us the category or categories you want to enter your film to, what your role was on the film, who the client was.
Please write a paragraph or two, giving some context to the shoot, any challenges you faced and any success your film has had. This would help us understand the background surrounding your masterpiece.
