IBC 2025 preview: Global gear gathering

Posted on Aug 29, 2025 by Pro Moviemaker

All eyes on Amsterdam, as the mega IBC exhibition will showcase all the latest kit for filmmakers at any level

Want to get up close and personal with the latest new kit and be inspired by experts from around the world? Get yourself to IBC 2025 in the Netherlands. It’s the world’s premier broadcast and media-tech show, attracting more than 45,000 attendees in creative, tech and business communities.

It’s not just for big studios, either. Independent filmmakers can gain access to breakthroughs in camera technology, post-production, streaming platforms, virtual production, workflows, AI tools and much more. Don’t miss some great chances to learn from, network and meet potential collaborators or mentors.

The show floor is home to more than 1350 exhibitors across 14 themed halls, exhibiting gear from indie-friendly cameras, gimbals and audio tools to LED volumes and post-production systems. You’ll discover real-world hardware and software fit for compact crews, and have opportunities to test rigs and compare solutions side-by-side.

Conferences and conversation panels include sessions from industry leaders such as WPP, Warner Bros, BBC R&D and Roku, who discuss AI in media, streaming strategies and future content models. It’s the place where indie creativity meets industry power.

It’s all held at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center, which is particularly well connected thanks to nearby airports, ferry ports and fast, efficient railways – you could even go Dutch by cycling there! Entry is free, but some of the conferences do have a charge.

We pick out some key trade stands and highlight a selection of the hot new gear they’ll be showcasing.

Amaran & Aputure

Stand 3.C59a

Amaran is the brand for content creators, while Aputure focuses on pro filmmakers. Both will be showing off their kit at the show, near their European HQs.

Aputure’s awesome Storm Parallel Beam 70 pumps out an intense and ultra-narrow shaft of light when fitted to the Storm XT52 high-output LED.

Amaran will be displaying its stellar Pano series, alongside other top lighting accessories for creating video content.

Astera

Stand 12.F33

Astera will be showing its new battery-powered Quikpunch, featuring an LED PAR with the optical quality of a fresnel in a wireless fixture – a world first. This outputs a high-intensity spotlight or a wide, soft beam to light large surfaces without colour shift or light spill.

Astera will display its LED-based lights. Seek out the innovative Lunabulb – it looks like a light bulb, but is driven by Astera’s Titan LED engine to provide full-colour light and wireless control.

Atomos

Stand 9.C05

The Atomos stand will be giving an international debut to the new Ninja TX, which is much more than a monitor-recorder – now a compact, cloud-connected unit. The Ninja TX includes 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 I/O, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth and Atomos Airglu timecode technology, as well as CFexpress Type B media for Raw recording.

Its 1500-nit touchscreen is brighter than previous models and hosts waveforms, EL Zone, vectorscope and focus aids. The Ninja is also cloud-ready, enabling direct uploads to Dropbox and Atomosphere, plus streaming.

Audio-Technica

Stand 8.D46

Audio-Technica is making great strides in audio for filmmakers. As a world leader in high-performance microphones, headphones, wireless systems and mixers, the brand knows a thing or two about sound.

Explore the BP4029 mic, with its excellent off-axis noise rejection, for recording distant sounds on a camera. It excels at picking up natural ambience without distortion. Also check out the eight-mic array BP3600 for 3D sound beds, tested in this issue.

Blackmagic Design

Stands 3.A51, 3.MS35, 7.C49

Get a close-up look at Blackmagic’s popular Pyxis cinema camera, now available with the 12K sensor from the Ursa Cine 12K LF and coming with a choice of L-Mount, PL or locking EF lens mounts.

It uses the same body design as the 6K Pyxis, with an RGBW sensor offering 16 stops of dynamic range, dual CFexpress media slots and Blackmagic Cloud global sync. The aluminium body has lots of mounting points for accessory side plates, so it’s easy to configure for different uses.

Canon

Stands 10.HR, 11.C41

Canon always has a huge selection of its hardware on display, including mirrorless cameras, the Cinema EOS range, lenses, camcorders, PTZs and production monitors.

But the highlight of the stand will be the EOS C80, a full-frame hybrid camera that’s winning lots of fans around the world.

Also on show will be the EOS C400, which boasts a stacked 6K sensor with triple base ISO, RF lens mount and internal 6K/60p Raw shooting, as well as 4K/120p in high-quality 4:2:2 10-bit, plus the latest-generation AF to top it off.

Godox will also display the MS60R and MS60Bi, compact 60W COB LED heads and the new AD33 Adjustable Diffusion panel, adjustable from hard to ultra-soft light.

Also on display will be the AM1600R, a 1600W inflatable LED mat that’s 4x8ft or 8x8ft and uses an inflatable softbox design for diffused light and easy overhead rigging.

Nanlux & Nanlite

Sister brands Nanlux and Nanlite are owned by Nanguang Photo & Video Systems Company, with a large range of LED lighting that’s great value for money. The Nanlite range includes powerful COB LEDs in a range of sizes, as well as tube lights, bulb LEDs and LED panels.

Keep an eye out for Nanlite’s latest Bowens mount zoom lens for LED hard lights – the compact Projection Attachment 25-45°. It creates precise pools of light and can be zoomed to different beam angles.

At 2.68kg, it can be mounted directly onto Bowens-fit fixtures without an extra yoke.

Red Digital Cinema

Stand 11.C20a

If you only visit one stand to lust over its high-end cameras, then hotfoot it to Red Digital Cinema. Check out the full-frame V-Raptor XL 8K VV, as well as the Super 35 Komodo 6K global shutter camera that brings innovative engineering to filmmakers at all levels of content creation.

As Nikon now owns Red, take a look at the V-Raptor and Komodo versions with the incredibly large Nikon Z mount, which opens up the system to lots of other lenses via a range of manual and AF adapters.

Sennheiser

Stand 8.D50

Brands in the Sennheiser Group include Neumann, Dear Reality and Merging Technologies, and they’re promising to introduce a range of brand new products.

Sennheiser itself will be featuring its time-served camera-mount EW-DP mic systems, ideal for on-site interviews and news coverage. The rugged MKH 8000 series of RF condenser mics and updated broadcast headset range will be available for hands-on demos. And do also look for the Profile Wireless system.

Sigma

Stand 12.F55

Sigma creates unique lenses in mirrorless AF fitments, as well as cine primes and zooms that share design features with its range of Art prime lenses. But the stars will be its line of fast, full-frame cinema primes with T1.3 apertures across the board. The Aizu Prime Line is a set of 12 large format cinema lenses from 18-125mm. All lenses cover a 46.3mm image circle, so are fully compatible with full-frame and large format systems like Arri’s Alexa LF.

Sony

Stands 13.A10, 13.D01

Sony will have a huge range of its very latest hardware, with lots of experts to answer any questions on filming, image capture, audio and post-production. Camera fans will love the Burano full-frame cine cam and newly released, pro-level PXW-Z300 camcorder.

Find the comprehensive Cinema Line range of cameras, as well as premium professional reference monitors, plus the FR7 full-frame PTZ camera and FX6, FX3, FX2 and FX30 models. Also, check out the massive range of lenses, such as Sony’s 50-150mm f/2 zoom.
