PGGB to host sustainability open day

The Sustainability Behind The Lens open day is at Garden Studios on 11 June 2025
The Production Guild of Great Britain’s (PGGB) Sustainability Committee will run a third edition of “Sustainability Behind the Lens”, a free of charge open day for all film and TV industry professionals, including PGGB members and non-members alike, to meet and network with cutting-edge green technology suppliers, in association with Garden Studios. The full day event will take place on Wednesday 11 June from 11am – 4pm at Garden Studios in London.
“Sustainability Behind the Lens” will see a host of eco-friendly suppliers demonstrate and discuss new technologies at the forefront of sustainability within the film and TV industry, as it moves towards the goal of cleaning up sets, reducing the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting the health of crews. Companies already confirmed to participate include Onbio Ltd, Geopura Ltd, The Generator Project, Albert, CAMA Asset Store and many more.
Price heads up committee
PGGB’s Sustainability Committee is headed up by Amelia Price, whose passion for leading the charge to make UK production more sustainable and cost effective, has helped bring this important event to fruition. Commenting, she said: “We first established this event 3 years ago to give crew on the ground the opportunity to come and learn about new technology first hand. If we want our crews to adopt new ways of working, we need to support them and connect them with our suppliers so they can work in tandem, learning from each other and coming up with practical solutions.”
PGGB’s partner on this important initiative, Garden Studios is focussed on making sustainability, inclusivity, education, innovation and accessibility a priority and is proud to have achieved B Corp certification and a ‘Very Good’ rating in the 2025 Albert Studio Sustainability Standard, BAFTA’s film studio sustainability certification. Most recently, Garden Studios received the 2025 Global Production Award for Sustainability Initiative at the Cannes Film Festival.

Building on 2024
Last year’s event brought together over 300 PGGB members, business partners and industry colleagues, along with 20 cutting-edge eco-friendly suppliers who demonstrated and discussed new technologies at the forefront of sustainability within the film and TV industry.
Earth Day in April 2023 marked the formation of PGGB’s Sustainability Committee, and it serves as a central hub for agreements, development and advice on sustainable filmmaking initiatives across the film and TV landscape. Key resources include the Sustainable Production Toolkit, a regularly updated open-source set of documents initially created by NBCUniversal.
