Fujifilm expands XF Lineup with ultra-compact 23mm lens
The new Fujifilm XF23mm f/2.8 R WR is a new ultra-compact and high-resolution lens that joins the brand’s celebrated XF series. With a 35mm equivalent focal length and weighing just 90g, this slim, portable lens is the ideal partner for everyday shooting – from wide-angle street scenes to table-top close-ups.
Designed to complement Fujifilm’s latest high-resolution X Series bodies, such as the new 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor in the X-E5, the XF23mm delivers sharp, detailed images across the frame. The lens uses an 8-element, 6-group construction with two aspherical elements to suppress distortion and aberrations while maintaining edge-to-edge clarity.
With a length of just 23mm, it’s one of Fujifilm’s thinnest lenses – matching the profile of the XF27mmF2.8 – yet still features weather sealing in nine locations for durability in rain, dust, and cold temperatures down to -10°C.
Ideal for photographers on the go, the lens offers a minimum focus distance of just 20cm, perfect for food, product, or detail shots in tight spaces. Its 11-blade aperture creates beautifully smooth bokeh, and a fast DC autofocus motor ensures you can quickly and quietly lock onto your subject.
The thoughtfully designed barrel features refined textures, a high-precision manual focus ring, and a compact control layout with physical aperture and MF rings that don’t interfere with each other. Knurled details at the rear aid in quick lens changes.
It costs £399. More info at fujifilm-x.com/en-gb/
