Zoom beyond digital constraints

This latest addition to the LUMIX S Series reaffirms Panasonic’s commitment to delivering compact, lightweight, and high-performance lenses for photographers, offering a valuable tool for those seeking versatility and mobility in their photography endeavours.

Panasonic has unveiled the LUMIX S 28-200mm F4-7.1 MACRO O.I.S. (S-R28200), introducing the world’s smallest and lightest long zoom lens to the L-Mount system standard.

This marks the first wide-to-tele zoom lens for the LUMIX S Series lineup, providing exceptional versatility for photographers.

The lens allows for half life-size macro shooting and close-up photography from just 3cm away, catering to a wide range of scenarios.

Key features of the LUMIX S 28-200mm F4-7.1 MACRO O.I.S. include micro-step aperture control, the flexibility to choose between linear or nonlinear focus ring settings, and 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 compatibility for effective image stabilisation.

The lens is designed with excellent mobility in mind, boasting a total length of 93.4mm and a mass of approximately 413g, making it highly portable.

The lens covers a broad range of focal lengths from 28mm wide-angle to a 200mm telephoto zoom, making it ideal for capturing various scenarios, from landscapes to portraits.

Additionally, it is optimised for video production, effectively suppressing focus breathing caused by movements in the focus position.

Panasonic’s meticulous attention to detail in optics and mechanics is evident in the LUMIX S 28-200mm F4-7.1 MACRO O.I.S., providing outstanding imaging performance with stunning bokeh throughout the entire zoom area.

The lens is set to be available in April 2024, with a suggested retail price of £899/€999.
