The 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary is compatible with L-mount and Sony E-mount cameras

Sigma has just announced its first mirrorless zoom lens for crop sensor cameras, the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary. It offers a full-frame equivalent focal range of 27-75mm with a wide f/2.8 constant aperture, delivering high optical performance across the entire zoom range – all contained within a compact, lightweight body. This versatile, portable lens is capable of capturing high-quality video, making it a good option for vloggers and filmmakers working in dynamic shooting environments.

The lens offers a maximum magnification of 1:2.8 and a minimum focusing distance of just 12.1cm, which means it is suited to a range of styles and genres. Thanks to its large f/2.8 aperture across the full zoom range, it can achieve attractively blurred backgrounds and beautiful bokeh effects when shooting portraits and close-ups.

High optical performance is guaranteed by the lens’s carefully arranged lens elements, including three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements. Optical imperfections such as distortion and vignetting are kept to a minimum by in-camera aberration correction, ensuring that all images are crisp, clear and high quality.

The lens uses a stepping motor as the AF actuator in order to achieve fast and silent AF, making it well-suited to capturing video with audio in low-noise environments.

With a maximum diameter of 65.4mm, a length of 74.5mm and a weight of just 290g, the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary is extremely portable and a great lens for day-to-day use, ideal for vlogging and creating content on the go.
