A free firmware update adds responsive touchscreen camera control for selected Sony and Canon mirrorless cameras when used with Accsoon’s CineView M7 and M7 Pro monitors
Accsoon has released a free firmware update enabling direct camera control from its CineView M7 and M7 Pro smart monitors, supporting a range of Sony and Canon mirrorless models.
The update allows users to adjust focus, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and white balance, as well as trigger recordings, all via the monitor’s responsive 7-inch touchscreen. Designed for speed and accuracy, the controls benefit from the M7 series’ high-performance processors, ensuring commands feel instantaneous – an essential factor for on-set work.
At launch, supported models include Sony’s A7S III, A7 IV, A9 III, FX30, FX3 and A7C II, plus Canon’s R5, R6, R5 II, R6 II, R7 and R8, with more cameras to be added in future.
Setup is straightforward: connect the monitor to the camera using a USB-C data cable, enable camera control in the monitor menu and dedicated icons appear on-screen. These lead to different parameter layouts, including a full-screen touch focus interface that lets users tap to shift focus points or drag to track a subject. Autofocus is highly responsive, with support for all AF zone modes and there’s an option to emulate a half-shutter press for enhanced focus response.
The M7 series can also trigger simultaneous recording on both camera and monitor. For example, the monitor can capture H.264 or H.265 proxy files for fast social media delivery while the camera records high-quality masters internally. Recording triggers are bi-directional – start from either device, and the other follows automatically.
Accsoon’s CineView M7 and M7 Pro are already known for their colour-accurate Rec.709-calibrated 1000-nit displays, rugged all-metal housings, advanced LUT workflows and HDMI/SDI cross-conversion. The M7 Pro adds Accsoon’s patented wireless transmission with up to 1,200ft range, while both models feature Wi-Fi 6 and on-board 4K60 recording.
The firmware update is available now as a free download from Accsoon’s website.
