Lights, cameras, traction!

Get a grip on the latest hardware at Euro Cine Expo, held in Munich’s Motorworld museum

If you want to shift your filmmaking into top gear, motor on down to Euro Cine Expo 2025 at Motorworld Munich – where innovative cinema technology meets vintage automotive engineering.

Held on 26-28 June, it’s the fourth annual running of the event that has quickly established itself as a key date in the calendar. For working filmmakers, cinematographers, colourists, gaffers, VFX professionals and post specialists, it offers an opportunity to check out the latest gear, connect with peers and manufacturers, and dive into the technical and creative shifts shaping modern production. All this happens inside a historic hall packed with classic cars and motorcycles – but the real horsepower is on the show floor.

This year’s expo will be the largest yet, with over 100 exhibitors, 40 symposium sessions and visitors from more than 50 countries. The exhibitor line-up reads like a who’s who of global production bigwigs, with major players including Canon, Sony, Red, Blackmagic and Fujifilm showing off their latest cameras and lenses. Lighting pros will find brands like Aputure and Godox demonstrating their latest systems.

Dedicated test zones allow filmmakers to evaluate gear in realistic conditions, with controlled lighting and shooting environments making it easier to compare performance across brands.

A key addition this year is the Rental Village – a space specifically created for the world’s leading rental houses to present their latest tools, services and insights. It’s a chance to see what’s hitting the rental market, ask practical questions about servicing and reliability and explore kit often unavailable to test anywhere else.

It’s also a valuable space for networking. Meet fellow creatives and trade notes on what’s working out in the field.

Euro Cine Expo is designed to support every step of the filmmaking journey. This year’s expanded show zones cover location services, pre-production tools, on-set tech and post/VFX workflows, giving direct access to the people and solutions that drive real-world projects forward.

Whether you’re looking to spec out a multicam set-up, solve colour pipeline challenges or streamline your virtual production workflow, there are experts on hand to guide you through it.

One of the most anticipated features of this year’s programme is the return of the Imago Technical and Education Committees, who will lead a two-day symposium spanning over a dozen high-level sessions. These technical talks and panels are for pros searching for deeper insight into emerging tools and practices.

Subjects this year include the role of AI in modern cinematography workflows, advances in on-set grading, LED lighting and virtual camera systems.

Confirmed speakers include Tim Kang from Aputure – who brings engineering expertise to the evolving role of lighting – and Dirk Meier, a colourist known for his work on acclaimed art house and documentary projects, sharing insights into modern grading and image control.

These sessions are ideal for creatives who want more than a surface-level update – they’re built for those looking to refine their approach in a fast-moving technical landscape.

Of course, it’s not all lectures and lens charts. Euro Cine Expo is also a celebration of the global filmmaking community. The event closes with the ECE Afterparty – an evening of music, drinks and well-earned downtime with fellow professionals.

The night also plays host to film and TV awards, women in cinematography awards and recognition awards, which will honour leadership, innovation and outstanding contributions across the industry.

Whether you’re looking to spec your next big project, rethink your workflow or simply stay ahead of the tech curve, Euro Cine Expo delivers the tools, people and knowledge to make it happen.
